cat-nap: Slow days have passed that make a year, Slow hours that make a day, Since I could take my first dear love And kiss him the old way; Yet the green leaves touch me on the cheek, Dear Christ, this month of May. I lie among the tall green grass That bends above my head And covers up my wasted face…

Me, Ophelia →
Yet another exhibit I wish I could have seen. This compelling picture of the tragic heroine of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, floating in the water, has inspired artists for generations. Striking parallels to Millais’s oeuvre are to be found in the work of contemporary photographers, such as Rineke Dijkstra, Hellen van Meene, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin.

Moral canvas: a depiction of modern life  →
Cruise admits that for much of the 20th century, the Pre-Raphaelites were considered old hat, partly because of their love of medieval and Shakespearean subject matter. ”But I think now we can look at them and see they really were quite experimental … their compositions tried to communicate about modern feelings and modern people.”

mybrightidea-deactivated2011072 asked: Black Books is great :-) have you seen them all? Yeah I'd definitely recommend his stand up :-) The first one is called "Monster" I think it's probably my favourite - the whole thing is on youtube if you can be arsed watching in 10 minute sections :-) x
