Thought the First: Once again, do NOT take this nascent friendship away from me. You hear me, writers? DO. NOT. I NEED Tara to smile like that more!
Thought the Second: At least once in every episode, I am distracted by wondering how many sets of false eyelashes the makeup department on this show goes through. :-D
Yes! Yes yes yes yes yes YES!
Do NOT toy with me, show. This friendship could ROCK EVERYTHING EVER. Their personalities are complementary in a way that is not dissimilar to what Tara used to have with Sookie, but without either the shared childhood experiences or the nightmare baggage of the last couple years.
Jess is younger in both literal age and practical life experience, but is just far enough down the vampire experience road to offer a bit of perspective while still freshly remembering what it’s like to be brand-new, stripped of agency, confused as hell, and treated as an inconvenience by their elders. Hell, she’s even the reason Bill learned how to talk to a baby vampire with compassion and some shred of common sense (since we now know he sure as hell didn’t get any of that from Lorena).
Each of these amazing ladies NEEDS and DESERVES the best of what the other has to offer. If they tease us with this and then rip it all apart, they are going to crush my heart.
ladyroxton: I want more Jessica/Tara interactions.
YES PLEASE. Jess’ newfound confidence in her identity has her going a little overboard with some things, but really only a little. For the most part, she’s remarkably grounded forĀ any 18-year-old, let alone a vampire who’s been through the things she has. She has it in her to be a true and tremendously valuable friend — viz. her response to Jason’s seemingly out-of-left-field freakout — and has very strong ethics about what that means. And if there’s anything Tara needs more desperately right now than a reliable friend, I don’t know what it is.
THE VERY LONG LIST OF AWESOME LADIES ON TV: Jessica Hamby [True Blood]
Who the fuck I am is an older vampire than you! Who I also am is the progeny of the King of Louisiana who happens to be out of town, which pretty much makes me the Queen!
BB GIRL BACK ON MY TEEVEE TONIGHT!!
And I guess some other folks come along with her? Whatevs. ;-) Since they can’t seem to stop killing the ones I care about…
It still blows my mind how fast Jessica went from “oh, gods, I feel bad for the kid but please GET HER OUT OF MY FACE” to approximately 94.999% of why I still watch this ridonkulous show.
Is it bad that I think Jess’ blog is better written than half the episodes?
